Sunday Funday: Baking With The Beatles!

I am not sure when it first started but I have been baking with the Beatles for years.  I spend a lot of time in my kitchen and nothing pleases me more than baking along to my favorite Beatles songs.

Sometimes I put my Beatles playlist on shuffle and go from "Yellow Submarine" to "A Day in The Life", other times I listen in chronological order from "Please Please Me" to "Let it Be" and then there are the times when I stick with my favorite "The White Album", disks one and two.

Sunday Funday: Golf Course Cake

Oh how I love Sunday Funday, mostly because I LOVE cake.  If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life it would be chocolate or vanilla cake with buttercream frosting.  Totally not dietitian-like but hey, it's for the REST of my life...

Sunday Funday- Tropical Drinks

What would vacation be without a few delicious frosty tropical drinks?

Even though for the most part I use Sundayfunday as an excuse to eat what I want I must say that there are a few beverages that even Sundayfunday can't justify.

Looking for a beachy fun cocktail with a little umbrella? When surfing the menu you might want to pass on these, the calorie content alone makes them almost a meal in itself:

Sunday Funday: Penguin Cupcakes

It is Sunday which means we can take a break from healthy topics!

Here is a book that I LOVE.  It was loaned to me by a friend and I have had a lot of fun making things from it.

Hello, Cupcake!: Irresistibly Playful Creations Anyone Can Make

I highly recommend looking at your local library for a copy and experimenting with cupcake creativity.  Or you can buy it here:  Hello Cupcake

My brother loves penguins so this past year for his birthday I surprised him with these:

How cute are those?  Even if I do say so myself :)  They really turned out nice.

I started with  basic cupcake.  Formed the body with a mini donut sitting on a donut hole and frosted with chocolate frosting tinted black.  I used a white candy disk for the white tummy and made the feet, beaks and wings out of colored sugar cookie dough.  The eyes were purchased sugar eyes.  The original Hello Cupcake recipe was slightly different but I wanted to use things that I had around the house.

My cousin helped me and we even experimented a little with alternative penguins.

Definitely a book to check out!

Sunday Funday in Savannah Georgia

Greetings from Savannah Georgia! We flew in on Friday night and have been enjoying all of the sights and fun things that the Savannah/Hilton Head area has to offer.

I have been trying to stick to a more or less healthy consumption pattern and with all of the walking we have done around the Historic District it has been a pretty healthy little get away so far. But guess what, it is now Sunday, which means Sunday Funday!

Savannah is known for southern staples such as fried okra, squash, butter beans, black-eyed peas, biscuits and gravy, the Cajun Tinity (jambalya and gumbo), pecan pie, fruit cobbler, chicken and dumplings, hush puppies, greens, cornbread and most importantly fried chicken! YUM!

Lucky for me today's plans include spending a good portion of the afternoon (say 1-4pm local time) in a sports bar cheering on THE BEARS! What a better place to allow for a little diet wiggle room that in a sports bar, I mean come on, sports bars are not usually known for their salads...

So cheers everyone, enjoy your Sunday Funday, give yourself a break and crack open a nice cold one or mix up some sweet tea and pair with whatever tailgating goodies you might have planned!
